MakerFaire
Singapore Maker Faire was from 25 June 2016 to 26 June 2016 by Singapore Science Center.
I was invited to the maker faire by my IoT startup friends to present Chinese Calligraphy on the Fan as an art.
By chance, I met IBM volunteer community in-charge Gina in the event. We chit chatted a bit regarding our projects, this events, and how come I can write Calligraphy. LOL. Well, it is one of my hobbies.
Dr. Vivian, Minster for Foreign Affaire and Minister-in-charge of the Smart Nation Programme Office saw us and greeted us.
He suggested to take a photo together and asked my school, my work, etc. He is really a talented and smart minister.
Prof.Lui came with his family. He knew some of us before and he happily talked to each of us.
He was extremely joyful with the Calligraphy art piece.
If you think the booths at Maker Faire are all run by Electronics or Mechanical Engineering professionals, you are wrong. This handsome friend is a pilot. In his spare time, he made all these amazing machines.
Of course, there are a lot of VRs (virtual reality), a lot of IoTs, a lot of high-tech stuff.
It occupied 90% of SUTD, according to my SUTD friend Song Zhengfeng (Top Right Corner in the photo below).
One of my previous SAP ERP students from NUS saw me. ‘Ah, you were doing SAP! Why did you change your job to write Calligraphy?’ I was like, ‘aw man…it is not like that…’
I am here because my customers will be happy with the Calligraphy fans they get. Look at those happy faces. They made my day!
As I said, there are all kinds of professionals and all kinds of products on the maker faire. As long as you are creative, willing to make things, you will make an impact.
Wei Kok is very experienced in IoT, system architect, etc. He explains his wonderful project to Prof. Lui. Prof. Lui really liked it.
I took a break to walk around. This maker faire really amazed me by its variety, popularity and innovation level.
